A Centennial Celebration was commissioned by the Viroqua High School Band, Viroqua, Wisconsin, Brad Thew, Director. Written to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the school's band program, the piece sets a "celebratory" mood with an up-tempo and joyful style that incorporates mixed-meters and interesting rhythms with tuneful melodies in major and mixolydian modes. A lyrical section provides contrast and additional expressive opportunities for the ensemble and soloists before returning to the original thematic material and moving on to a triumphant conclusion.
