When my friend Carl Anderson approached me about writing a piece for him to play as a trombone soloist with the Prairie Wind Ensemble, I was certainly intrigued by the possibilities.  It had been nearly 50 years since I had written anything like that.  In my final year of college at the University of Miami, I began writing what I planned to be a ten-movement suite of solos for wind instruments with band accompaniment, but only completed two of the pieces, one for euphonium and another for horn.  Then I started teaching, put the idea on hold, and never returned to it.  Until NOW!

The result of this collaboration is a highly melodic and virtuosic trombone solo that showcases the artistic and technical capabilities of the soloist while providing a joyful and uplifting musical offering to the audience.
